Bijna 170 hardlopers deden afgelopen zondag mee aan de 38e DSC Midwinterloop in Diepenveen. Deze prestatieloop die vorig jaar werd afgelast telde in het verleden wel meer deelnemers maar de organisatie was tevreden over deze editie.De verwachting was dat de Midwinterloop haar naam eer zou aandoen gezien de weersvoorspelling, het zou gaan sneeuwen. Maar de sneeuw bleef uit, dat in tegenstelling tot de vorige editie in 2013 toen de deelnemers onderweg een sneeuwbui te verwerken kregen.
De lopers die konden kiezen uit de afstanden 4,5 7 10 en 15 kilometer kregen onderweg zowel asfalt, zand- en bospaden onder de hardloopschoenen. Door de overvloedige regenval van de afgelopen week was het op sommige plaatsen modderig maar over het algemeen was het parcours goed te belopen. De tijdslimiet was ruim gesteld zodat iedereen in eigen tempo de Midwinterloop kon volbrengen.
