Vanaf vrijdag 2 oktober wordt in de Evenementenhal in Hardenberg een groep van 255 vluchtelingen opgevangen. Het gaat om crisisopvang gedurende 72 uur. De vluchtelingen komen vrijdag aan het begin van de avond aan en blijven tot maandagavond in de Evenementenhal.
Vanwege het grote aantal vluchtelingen dat momenteel Nederland binnen komt, is er een tekort aan opvangplekken. Daarom is de gemeente Hardenberg gevraagd crisisopvang te bieden. Dit betekent dat vluchtelingen gedurende 72 uur (drie dagen) op een tijdelijke locatie worden opgevangen. “Wij willen als gemeente onze maatschappelijke verantwoordelijkheid nemen en zorgen voor een adequate opvang van vluchtelingen”, legt burgemeester Peter Snijders uit. “We hebben er begrip voor dat dit voor onze inwoners best spannend is. Maar als we zien hoe hoog de nood nu is op dit gebied, dan willen we daarin samen met andere Overijsselse gemeenten behulpzaam zijn. Dat kunnen we doen door nu deze opvang te bieden.” De 255 vluchtelingen die vrijdagavond naar de Evenementenhal komen, hebben zich bij hun aankomst in Nederland al gemeld bij een aanmeldcentrum. Vervolgens zijn ze opgevangen in locaties voor crisisopvang.
De gemeente organiseert de tijdelijke opvang van de vluchtelingen en gebruikt hiervoor de Evenementenhal. Er is gekozen voor deze locatie omdat de Evenementenhal in korte tijd geschikt te maken is voor deze opvang. Voor de begeleiding van de vluchtelingen zijn in de Evenementenhal 24 uur per dag mensen aanwezig. Er is ook 24 uur per dag beveiliging aanwezig in en rondom de opvanglocatie. Verder zijn er tolken aanwezig om ervoor te zorgen dat de communicatie soepel verloopt. Voor de medische zorg is een arts aanwezig. De vluchtelingen zijn vrij om het terrein op en af te gaan. Zij moeten zich uiteraard wel aan de gedragsregels in de openbare ruimte houden en privéterrein van derden respecteren.
Vrijwilligerswerk via Rode Kruis
De meeste vluchtelingen hebben een lange reis achter de rug en zijn vermoeid. Om die reden vraagt de gemeente een ieder weg te blijven bij de Evenementenhal. Er is momenteel geen behoefte aan goederen of kleding voor deze locatie. Het vrijwilligerswerk rond vluchtelingenopvang wordt gecoördineerd door het Rode Kruis. Mensen die willen helpen kunnen contact opnemen met het Rode Kruis.
